Year in Review
In a year marked by the war in Ukraine, inflation rose worldwide, putting pressure on household disposable income in all three countries where we operate.
Against this background, all our banners maintained the quality of their value propositions and invested in margins to limit the increase in food prices for consumers.
This focus enabled solid sales growth. It was also a year in which we achieved new environmental and social sustainability targets – we are the world’s leading food retailer according to CDP.
Sales increased 21.5% to 25.4 billion euros, largely driven by the double-digit growth of Biedronka (in local currency) and benefiting from the solid growth of the other Companies.

We used our 230th anniversary as an opportunity to take a fresh look at our history and our business. We went behind the scenes to show how we keep reinventing ourselves.
We ended the year listed in more than 120 indices that recognise companies with the best sustainability practices worldwide. The year was marked by the war in Ukraine, but this event – and our prompt response, particularly through Biedronka – did not distract us from the path to achieve our ambitious sustainability goals.
