BIEDRONKA
The Company refurbished a record number of stores, introducing self-checkouts and meat and delicatessen counters, created more proximity to its customers by opening more stores than initially planned, and consolidated its e-commerce operation.
PINGO DOCE
The Company recorded solid sales growth and strengthened its competitiveness in an adverse environment. Its strong promotional dynamic in the year affirmed Pingo Doce as the Portuguese consumer’s go-to for savings.
RECHEIO
Recovery of the HoReCa channel allowed the Company to return to sales growth, preserved in the Traditional Retail segment. New opportunities in the digital channel were explored, both in terms of communication and business.
ARA
The Company strengthened its price leadership and was rewarded with solid sales growth. It invested heavily in opening new stores, exceeding the target set for 2021. ARA achieved break-even EBITDA for the first time.
HEBE
The Company reinforced the digital channel as one of its growth drivers, with online sales more than doubling and accounting for 13% of total sales. Integration of its brick-and-mortar stores into the digital vision of the business allows Hebe to differentiate itself from the competition.
AGRIBUSINESS
The Company invested in new production areas (Europe’s largest organic orange grove and lamb) and entered a new market (Morocco) for the aquaculture production of sea bass and sea bream. Jerónimo Martins Agro-Alimentar operates in four areas: dairy; livestock farming (Angus cattle and sheep); aquaculture (sea bass and sea bream); and fruit and vegetables.
It was a year of strong sales growth in all the countries where we operate.
